MAIN FUNCTION: A caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients under the supervision/direction of a registered nurse. Reports to the Director of Department to which assigned. EDUCATION: Graduate of a Practical Nursing Program registered by the New York State Education or by the licensing authority of another state. CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required in critical care units. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Appreciable physical effort required. Moving, lifting and assisting patients whose size and physical abilities can vary greatly. Some lifting, reaching and stooping.
