This role includes expanded responsibilities, which may involve charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member duties. The unit cares for a variety of surgical patients, including thoracic, foregut, and plastic surgery patients, as well as burn patients. There are step-down beds available for post-operative patients requiring more frequent monitoring. The unit specializes in the management and care of patients with pulmonary hypertension.
