Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: Full Time Shift: Rotational Day/Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: One year experience serving in a Medical/Surgical environment as a Registered Nurse License: New York State RN Licensure Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to assess patient needs, develop care plans, provide direct care, and evaluate patient progress Description: The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Nurse assesses patient needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. He/she provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The Registered Nurse develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions. This role includes caring for adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions. The Registered Nurse is accountable for educating patients and families to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The Registered Nurse promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment. The nurse applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care. He/she assesses patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data obtained through direct observation or assessment. The nurse creates a culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of identified health problems. In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, the nurse sets goals and monitors patient progress.
