Job Description Job Description Job Title: Container Program
Manager Job Description The Container Program Manager will lead the
planning and execution of packaging plans for future vehicle
programs. The role involves ensuring the on-time delivery of the
right container at the lowest cost for both current and future
launch programs. This position requires significant integration and
initiative with various departments such as Manufacturing,
Purchasing, Logistics, vehicle assembly plants, Suppliers, and
Program Teams. Responsibilities Represent the containers planning
team as the single point of contact with the program teams.
Represent Global Containers in external venues including the
Program Execution Team, Manufacturing Integration Team, and
Material Launch Readiness Team meetings. Manage container planning
activities to meet GVDP requirements, coordinating and managing
integrated container fabricators in the design, development,
production, and deployment of specialized containers. Oversee the
entire container program life-cycle, including finances, timing,
and readiness. Conduct container concept and sample buyoff
workshops. Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
Develop Total Enterprise Cost business cases related to container
investment, logistics CPU impact, and material piece price. Handle
Container Program Financial AR including estimating, forecasting,
spending, and approval responsibilities. Manage pre-launch
activities including ownership of the plan for every part, supply
chain container system sizing, and supporting supplier readiness.
Manage post-launch container activities such as quality,
engineering work orders, annuals, and modifications. Respond to
critical capacity studies and resolve container-related capacity
issues. Support the advance container planning group with effective
post-VPI data transfer activities. Analyze, interpret, evaluate,
plan, and make recommendations on programs and policies relative to
total enterprise cost analysis. Present findings and
recommendations to all levels of management and across various
organizations and disciplines. Essential Skills Program management
Engineering Project management and coordination Experience in
automotive manufacturing Long-term program planning Cost estimation
and financial management Crisis management Proficiency in MS Excel,
Excel Scripts, MS Office Suite, and Microsoft Project Experience
with Gantt charts Manufacturing engineering Additional Skills &
Qualifications Preferably a technical degree (4-year degree)
Training on the container side of the business will be provided
Industrial Engineers with exposure to packaging and supply chain
activities are encouraged to apply Automotive launch experience
Experience in cost and financial management, particularly in
staying within budget Work Environment This position is primarily a
hybrid role, with three days in the office and two days working
remotely. The office is located within the Vehicle Engineering
Center, which houses 4,000 employees. The team consists of
approximately 60 engineers, divided into 2-3 groups per part and
vehicle line. This is a first shift position, with business casual
attire as the dress code, and involves 10% or less travel. Job Type
& Location This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI. Pay
and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $34.00/hr.
